Area Director/District Manager


This position reports to VP of Operations, and is accountable for managing all day-to-day operations of a market of individual stores to achieve targeted productivity, sales, and profitability (within approved merchandising and pricing policy). The Area Director conducts orientation, training, and coaching of management staff to execute customer service, store image, merchandise presentation and cost control in attainment of Company objectives (Brand and Environment) within the respective market. Management of training, scheduling and motivation of store personnel are critical aspects of this position. This position inspects premises of stores to ensure that adequate security exists and physical units comply with safety and environmental codes and ordinances. This position assists in resolving operational problems that may develop within any one store within the market. The Area Director is the direct link between the Corporate office and the individual store and it's their duty to help each store stay current with Brand Standards, company policies and above all else, ensure that each store is doing their best to increase sales and improve relations with customers.


? Responsible for ensuring the highest level of customer service throughout their respective market. An Area Director is a role model and leader and must solve problems, make informed decisions and manage the workforce and time wisely in order to achieve maximum results.

? Provide troubleshooting solutions to stores in times of problems and have Creativity to think up new plans to increase the productivity of the store

? Visit individual stores and spend time interacting with the management team as well as other employees of those stores with the goal of improving productivity, hiring, and firing management personnel, and maintaining communication between each individual store and the headquarters of the retail chain by being the direct link of communication.

? Supervision of all in-store operations to achieve sales, service and profitability objectives.

? Duty to help each store stay current and continuously monitor operations of all stores within market to ensure that standards are met and maintained regarding merchandise presentations, customer service standards, store cleanliness, shrinkage, and operation cost controls.

? Ensure the fiscal integrity of the stores within market by accounting for all cash, merchandise, and other store assets.

? Continuously network, recruit, hire and develop personnel for store, district, and company.

? Establish the fiscal integrity of the stores within market by accounting for all cash, merchandise, and other store assets.

? Oversee and maintain scheduling, payroll/selling cost at or below budget standards.

? Maintain Training of management personnel, and provide timely written evaluations on management and store personnel

? Train and develop Manager-In-Training in the training phase, in preparation for advancement to managing their first store.

? Responsible for successfully executing all job criteria for store managers, assistant managers, and sales associates as well as Ensuring that all the stores are adhering to and working as per company policies

? Assist VP of Operations in the performance of their duties as requested.

? Responsible to turn in completed documentation requested by VP of Operations, and/or corporate personnel by set deadlines

? Work responsibilities would include overnight travel, weekend and evening hours



The position of Area Director is required to stand approximately seven to twelve hours per day, usually five to six days per week. During any given hour of the workday, the Area Director may be required to kneel in order to place shoes on the customer?s feet, or walk quickly into the back room to obtain specified product from the storage racks. This may require climbing a ladder, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pulling, lifting weights of usually 5-25 lbs., in certain instances weights may be heavier, but may not exceed 200 lbs. Additionally, incumbent may be required to descend/ascend stairs in order to stock and/or acquire merchandise for sale.

The incumbent will work rapidly for long periods, and typically ten to twelve hours per day within a 55 hour workweek. During peak sales periods which include, but are not limited to Christmas, Easter, Mother?s Day, Father?s Day, and Back-to-School the Area Director may be required to work additional hours to coincide with the sales season.

This position requires the incumbent to speak clearly, enabling her/him to converse with customers and effectively supervise staff.


Area Director must possess the ability to read, write, conduct business related mathematics, implement recommendations by supervisors, direct and evaluate
the performance of others. In addition, the job incumbent must possess the ability to analyze data as required when studying merchandise reports.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
